dude, you are makin art sound waaaaay to complicated. just pick up a crayon and draw, its simple. picasso and matisse didnt draw 'exactly' didnt mean they were bad at drawing.

but this is how they learned, great abstractors and cubists learn to make art in the tradition and then they abstract from forms. The reason these artists are so captivating is because they absolutely understand form and denounce it. I m sure when picasso was learning how to paint he attended lectures much longer then this one. look at both of those artists early work.
