They mention a few ... ( 1 year ago by drfelatio)
They mention a few tips that would benefit you. People often wind up 30' back of the basket because they're trying to line-drive the disc into the chains. When they miss, the disc sails on by. Instead, you need to arch your disc above the basket and allow the disc to fall into it. If you miss, the disc should fall right around the basket. Milne has a fantastic mental tip: imagine an object between you and the basket and then attempt to shoot over that object and into the chains.

I'm just curious. Is the jump putt something new? I used to play a long time ago. I would jump putt about 50% of the time then. It seemed natural to float in like that. I used my San Mateo mold Shark almost exclusively but that Rattler looks like it can pull off the air-bounce so it probably floats down pretty straight, right?
The jump putt has ... ( 1 year ago by imperialofficer)
The jump putt has been around for about as long as the falling putt rule has been in effect. This rule states that if you are inside of 10 meters of the basket(roughly 30 feet) you cannot step past your lie until your disc hits the ground or lands in the basket. Jump putting is just a way to get extra power on your putts outside of 30 or so feet.
Absolutely, rtcj. ... ( 1 year ago by Persuter)
Absolutely, rtcj. I've got to imagine that, for most recreational players, even pretty good ones, if you take a run at the basket, you'll end up three-putting a 100 foot shot more often than you make it. When I'm playing for fun, I'll go for the basket from that distance, but when I'm playing for money, I'm HAPPY to lay it up and let them try to make theirs.

Your videos are fnatatic. the one on throwing side arm has doubled my range and my accuracy with those shots, and now can drive either way. . also has given me MUCH more range for long mid-range shots. . thanks so much.
PS DISCRAFT are the only discs you need!

That is an incorrect statement now. In the circle, you must "show balance". It doesn't matter if your disc is resting in the basket or not. It could be resting but if you fall forward even after several seconds, it is a falling putt.

Some of the jump putts shown I would consider illegal throws because the disc leaves the hand when the player is up in the air. It's very hard to tell though.

sorry Rene but that is legal.
They are outside the 10 meters and aslong the disc is out of their hands before their foot hits the ground,it is a legal throw.

Rule 803.04: When the disc is released, a player must: (1) Have at least one supporting point that is in contact with the playing surface on the line of play and within 30 centimeters directly behind the marker disc So you cannot be "in the air" when the disc is released.

Ok, nobody jumps ... ( 5 months ago by thielenm)
Ok, nobody jumps then releases the disc...that would defeat the whole purpose of the jump putt which is to get more distance. You can think of it the same way as in basketball. You can get a lot more distance if you jump and throw at the same time, however a true jump shot takes a lot of power out of the shot.
