Yeah....Canada "gives away" health insurance. Their citizens are taxed out the ass for it, and then they wait so long to *get* the fucking health care they've already paid for, that they come to America to get it in a timely manner and pay for it *again*. GREAT fucking system!

I never said I support Bush, notice. Bush has done a lot of things I disagree with, and that are more liberal, actually, than conservative. The whole Republican party is ridiculous, in fact. As for "The rest of the nation," dude, they are -local charities.- The rest of the nation takes care of themselves, just like every other part of the nation. That's the point, the local charities can better help people than a nationalized system, because they know the people and the area.

Really? My mother's disabled and so are quite a few other relatives and those same charities didn't want to help at all. The national government has more resources because they gather money from everywhere. It's not a small town evrywhere like you make it sound

I believe that there is no such thing as "the greatest country" it's all in the mind, you know. Because I would rather pay more taxes, and have insurance, good roads, police, etc. Then pay less taxes and live in the US. But others may look at it differently. I live in Amsterdam, and I like it here in Holland, we do pay a lot of taxes, but I have insurance and a student credit and I can use free public transportation, so I'm staying here (oh and marijuana is legal here, also a plus;)

I would say that that is because of people who feel that the national government should take care of it. Did you know that conservatives are more than twice as likely to donate to charity than liberals? I suspect that this is because liberals think that the government should take care of them, so why donate to normal charities? And because larger towns and cities tend to be more liberal than smaller ones... You get the picture. This doesn't mean, however, that the government should take over.

And honestly, bringing up your mother like that's going to affect my opinion. My girlfriend is disabled, so is her mother, and they are also not too well off. I myself would "benefit" from the steal from the rich and give to the poor approach. I'm still not going to support nationalized health care, or increased welfare. It's selfish and greedy. And honestly, you must not really need welfare if you've got the money to own a computer and internet access.

BTW, there are more people from the US that go to Canada to get free health insurance thanks to family in there, than people from Canada that go to the US to get it faster. I would rather have a cold for 3 days than dying of neumonia because I couldn't afford the treatment.

I'm not saying they're not being selfish and greedy. But it's not your, or the government's, responsibility to force them to be giving. XD You say I know nothing about you, but a) You know nothing about me, and b) Liberals are the ones who act all high and mighty. What do you think welfare is? Did you read my response at all? In my humble opinion, it is because people in your area are mostly liberal, right? You're probably in a big city? So they think that the government should be taking care of you. If they take care of you, that just shows the government that they don't have to take care of you. And besides which, in their opinion, the rich should be taking care of you! They're not the rich, so they don't have to donate any of their money.

You're right, I don't know you, but see how irritating that is? Wrong, I'm in a red state, VA to be specific. Not a big city other than Richmond. Most of the churches here are corrupt. Yeah, give and give, but then the pastor has four or five new cars.
What about conservatives who bad mouth EVERY single dissident and say they have no morals? That's NOT acting high and mighty? We all pay taxes, and we expect the same benefits as the current retired and disabled when we get to that point.

A friend of mine recently went on maternity leave and the job screwed up the time off papers. They had to go to court to pay the landlord, who was upset about that. The charities didn't want to help, or wanted interest. They got it settled with a good judge, but still.

Uh, did I say donate to churches only? ...Why, no, no I didn't. Richmond's nice, though; I miss Virginia. But just because you are in a red state (Which actually voted blue, FYI) doesn't mean your town is red. I don't. I don't expect those benefits, and I certainly hope I never have to use them, because I will take care of my own retirement rather than having the government take care of it for me. In the case of social security, it's stealing from the young, and I refuse to be a part of that.

What did the poor do to bring down the economy? The way I see it; these assholes destroyed the economy, outsourced our jobs to nations they don't even pay well for, then they fire everyone when money is a little tight for them.
It's like hitting someone back after they hit you. I'm just trying to show my side of the aisle and why I, like others, are pissed that little guy gets shit on while the people on top can do ANYTHING and be rewarded.
