The actual numbers are collected by the US sensus, and are very accurate. There are ways to cross reference the accuracy when kids register for school. The rate was 37% in 2005, rose to 41% in 2007, and is expected to hit 45% this year!
And no, my logic here implies that it is far more difficult to raise a well adjusted kid in a single parent home. There is no question about it! Now this doesn't mean ALL KIDS with single parents will be fuckups. IT means that IT'S MORE LIKELY!
