Catching Mew in Pokemon Red and Blue versions

This is an instructional video of how to catch Mew, in infamous 151st Pokemon in the original Red and Blue versions, without the use of a cheating device, and on the first trip to Cerulean City!
Just to clarify some of the questions that people are having: 1. For those of you who are having trouble battling the Slowpoke Trainer (game freezes) make sure he is walking up to you and you are not just walking in front of him. 2. Yes, this was done on a Pokemon Blue ROM. Not Yellow, not Red.
The reason the colors are what they are is because the emulator I used to play it was a GameBoy Color emulator and for some reason the emulator put colors which are not the same when you play the game with an actual GameBoy Color. 3. This apparently works on Pokemon Yellow, according to some users
. While I personally have not tried this glitch with Yellow Version, other users say that it works so I should clarify here that it does. 4. No, this does not work in Fire Red and Leaf Green. If you had half a brain cell this would be obvious to you. PLEASE DO NOT MESSAGE ME WITH QUERIES REGARDING
DOWNLOADING AN EMULATOR. THEY ARE ILLEGAL. Besides, a simple Google search should suffice =D

well, i was checking out the TMs in the dept. store & i saved b4 i bought, in case i didnt like them & didnt want to spend the $. i didnt, so i turned off the game, & restarted it.i looked away (to watch stupid Friends) & kept clicking 'A', like i usually do. (i wont ever do it again might i add...)

when i had looked back, a little box showed up that said 'the file was destroyed!' (and i dont remember even touching the down button) so, ready to cry, i pressed 'A' again, & then my only options it showed me on the 'menu' thing were NEW GAME or OPTIONS....
sadly i havent touched the game since & am just looking 4 a way to retrieve the info.

I never tried catching Mew so I wouldn't know. Have you tried switching Gameboys? Some games can save to the Gameboy though I doubt Pokemon does... :/
I have Pokemon Red and I now have like 10 level 100s and 111 pokemon caught I believe. Playing for probably about 2 weeks or so. YAy for Missingno glitch! :) Sorry to hear about your problem though dude.

that really sucks. i got half way into the game and my file just vanished. so i restarted my red version and im trying to get this mew now with the possibility of it erasing on me. ahh

no im pretty sure there are other ways to get mew, but theyre either alot more difficult, or require some sort of game code thing like Game Shark

I did this once back when i used play with my gameboy color an i used to have the yellow and red version and let me tell you that it works on both of them but my glitch was a bit different instead of using teleport i used fly and new appear where you get your sixth badge i dont remember the name of the city right now

btw to catch abra you dont have to use sing it just helps i couldent be bothered to get wigglytuff to lvl 23 so i used poke ball straigthh away and got him

YOU CAN ALSO GET MEW BY... fighting the first swimmer in misty's gym. If you fight other trainers, different pokemon appear on the bridge. Follow all the same steps in the vid, but fight different trainers instead of junior's slowpoke.

I got a gengar when i fought the hiker on the way to bill's house. Make sure it's the first swimmer in misty's gym you fight, I have a red cartidge. It could be random, I definitely have 2 mews on my cartridge w/ no cheating device.
