The producer Timbaland seems to have used a six year old song from a finish musician and used it for the song "Do it" by Nelly Furtado. | thinkfaster, IF it has been cleared now.. well it doesn't make any odds. You clear your samples BEFORE release if you have respect for the music your sampling IF it's such a big chunk. Tim knows this and was just playing dumb (badly), In this case it's a MASSIVE chunk. He's a fool for going on radio and making stupid misleading comments also. It just shows what he's all about (and not in a good light). I'd have liked to hear the TRUE author and remixer got something for their fine work though. |

| I intended to replyto the guy you responded to who said "lol, these lines are so damn standard." According to his webpage, the original composer (Janne Suni) has settled. The terms of the settlement appear to include him being silent about the details. The remixer (GRG) has a similar statement on his page. |

| no its not sampling. its just directly ripping off someones melody. direct sampling is still pretty illegal as far as i know, unless the law has changed. there is some creative commons law that allows people to use others music, but im not sure what the rules are. |

| firstly, its not sampling, sampling is taking a direct recording from a track. This track in the video would be more accurately described as a rip-off. As its basically the same melody remade on a different synth. So on that note its not sampling. As regards what you said about stealing, its not very accurate either. Using someone elses melody is on some level robbing the original artists. But, in technicality, since the sample has not been directly recorded from the orginal, its not stealing. |

Stealing other peoples melodies simply means he is not smart enough to make his own. As for limewire im shocked at your stupidity, limewire is for downloading released music. downloading someone elses music, changing it slightly and then re-releasing it as your own is much different than downloading someones album. use your brain. |

| So, if you wrote a sick beat, put it online, then someone took it and added a couple things to it, then sold it and made a load of money... wouldn't you at least want to be credited? If not even paid! It's not that he sampled - people sample all the time - it's that profits were made from material that doesn't even credit the original author. |
