The car IS for sale. But it's more of an certain achievement threshold for the company than a profitable project. Of course you have to custom order it. It's just that like with every other Maybach, you pretty much have to contact the manufacturer to negotiate all the details and customizations. So it's not a "one of a kind" car per se. There are a couple in Moscow, Russia and one in Los Angeles, CA that I've seen personally.

Despite of what you might have heard, eight million is the approximate sale price of this vehicle. I'm not sure what design and development cost those guys. For instance, it costs about $200M for Ford Motor Company to develop a new production model.

Well i live in LA and I rarely go to Russia. And I generally don't get out much. So if I managed to see two of them while on my one week trip there, that's gotta tell you something. Besides, there just can't be "a whole bunch of them" in Dubai. Maybach just didn't make "a whole bunch" of them.
