My interview re.Comcast forging P2P BitTorrent reset packets
Uploaded by: MrWizardJr
Video Description:
Clip of me being interviewed on the local news, which shows what happens when TV reporters try to do their jobs with the deadlines and resources they have: The accusation is NOT that Comcast is blocking "websites". It's that it's blocking the filesharing itself! Hence Comcast was able to claim not to be blocking "websites" without lying. Makes it sound like I may have just had a connection glitch; which was certainly not the case; I had stated during the interview that I had logged receiving forged reset packets sent by comcast. - clip needed for commentary and criticism.
RESPONSE TO DAHEICHEL (YouTube won't let me post a reply.): No need for that. There's been progress: The CEO and I have emailed back and forth. Sent 10/23/08: Hello again Brian I was pleased to read http://downloads.comcast.net/docs/Attachment_B_Future_Practices.pdf It's a very sensible approac
h to address congestion issues. How's it compare, cost-wise, with the Sandvine solution? Glad to see Comcast finally move toward a sensible (and what I would call network-neutral) approach as I suggested (coincidentally?) to you a year ago, and prep for the DOCSIS 3.0 rollout as well. I was right
so far; blocking p2p traffic is both a bad and unworkable idea, long term. I was quoted saying: "There's the wrong way of going about [network management] and the right way," and I'm glad to see Comcast switch from the former to the latter. Sorry to see your spamhaus listings are as bad as ever.
Good luck with execution on these fronts. -Matthew Elvey
